Ok so this isn’t really news but it sure is worth a mention. The reunion of lead singer Chris cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd, and drummer Matt Cameron was confirmed when Cornell announced it boldly on Twitter on January 1st this year:

Soundgarden has since (very sneakily) played a secret concert under the name “Nude Dragons” at the Showbox in Seattle on April 16th and the acclaimed Lollapalooza music festival in Grant Park, Chicago. Already, a previously unreleased track Black Rain has been added to the newest Guitar Hero:Warriors of Rock setlist and the album,  Telephantasm: A Retrospective, comes packaged with initial shipments of the game. Officially it has been slated for a September 28th release. Telephantasm is a compilation album of old favourites but i sure hope there’s some new material in the works. If the fire has truly been ignited under Soundgarden once again, I for one can’t wait for a new release.
